My love of cats started when I was a child, with a blue persian called Princess. Since that time, we have had a variety of cats.
In 1998 my daughter was ready for her own cat and so we searched the internet researching breeds. When we came across the Australian Mist we knew this was the cat for us.
After talking to Anne Burrows in NSW, we were offered Mati who became our first queen. Her photo appears in the photo gallery.
Mati is now spayed and enjoys her pet status. She is the sweetest, gentlest, most loving cat - totally bomb-proof according to Alix who she adores. Queen of the house, Mati is a delight to have around. Our thanks to Anne for allowing Mati to come and live with us. we love her to bits.
Australian Mist cats have an extremely affectionate and loving temperament, just like Mati. They love the company of their family or owner. A favourite position is on your shoulder or your lap. The Australian Mist is an ideal family pet well suited to living indoors.
The Australian Mist was developed by Dr. Truda Straede of NSW Australia from over 30 foundation cats. Half were Burmese, a quarter Abyssinian and a quarter domestic.
The Burmese contributed :
colour dilution,
4 colours,
ghost spotting,
a relaxed temperament and also gave the breed its general body size and conformation.
The Abyssinians brought their coat ticking (Agouti) thus providing the "misted" background,
2 colours and
their intelligence.
Domestics provided great spots,
mothering skills and
increased vigour.
Their friendly and affectionate nature makes them a delight to be with. For us the greatest pleasure has been to see the happiness our mists bring to their new owners and the loving relationships which subsequently develop. While I am no longer breeding Australian Mists, I do help place adult cats. If you think an adult cat would suit you please email me by clicking on my name:

We hope that should you select an Australian Mist as your companion, that your life will be as enriched as ours has been by them. |
